I am not channeling my frustration only happiness.
About two years ago I moved downtown and got rid of cable TV. There are three televisions downstairs in my gym so I particularly run down to workout when I can catch a glimpse of…
American Pickers – These two guys, Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe always put a smile on my face. Their eagerness is contagious! I get so engaged with the whole travelling round the nation bit in pursuit of extraordinary things.
They do not leave a stone unturned. If you like conversations that capture the history behind the person and the piece this is your kind of show. If you like this show but prefer to Go Canada tune into Canadian Pickers instead.
When to watch: Thursdays at 9:00pm ET shown on History (see website for more schedule details)
Storage Wars – Yep or Yup? I cannot choose my favourite person on this show, they are all characters. Barry makes me laugh instantly, Darrell remind me of my Dad (a little) in moments, Dave has no filter and Jarrod & Brandi’s chatter reminds me of day to day relationships. Waiting to see what is unveiled “in the lockers” always keeps me on the edge of my seat.
When to watch: Tuesdays at 9:30/8:30c on A&E
Pawn Stars – Artifacts and intense haggling all in one show – sign me up. Mega amounts of antiques, memorabilia and merchandise all in one place. Rick, The Old Man, Corey and Chumlee will keep you entertained. You should also visit the Pawn Stars (Website) -it is stellar.
When to watch: Tuesdays at 9:00pm ET shown on History (see website for more schedule details)
CBC’s Four Rooms is the latest show to hit my tube. In a nutshell it involves a person wanting to sell an object who visits at the most four closed door rooms to check offers. They have a chance to visit four different top buyers (if they choose) giving them a total of four chances to make the best deal. That’s a ton of 4’s! There is a catch to the whole four door thing so check it out to see what it is…
When to watch: Sundays at 8pm/8:30NT.
Each of these shows touches on something a little different. American Pickers is a little down and dirty, Storage Wars is more ballsy with a hint of surprise, Pawn Stars shows the winning and losing aspect of the business while Four rooms is all strategy.
Stayed tuned for more on antiques.
